Welcome !

Established in 1989, Troop 945 of Damascus, Maryland offers opportunities for boys ages 11-17 to experience the outdoors, learn outdoor skills, provide community service and grow in leadership through a structured advancement program. We strive to be a scout-run, scout-led organization as much as possible.  All new scouts are always welcome; you don't need any previous scouting experience.  Troop 945 serves scouts from various public and private schools in and around the Damascus area. We typically have about 50 registered boys on our roster. Troop meetings are held at the forested Izaak Walton League-Damascus Chapter, with facilities that include a wooded group firepit area, screened-in cook house and heated building.  While access to many parts of our website is granted only to members of our troop (by login), we would be happy to hear from any interested families (Menu-Contact Us).

Some highlights of our program include camping, backpacking, kayaking, Klondike Derby, Mulch Sale, Merit Badge Weekend and summer camp at the Blue Ridge Scout Reservation.  We also regularly have boys participate in BSA sponsored high adventure trips to Philmont-New Mexico, Seabase-Florida and Northern Tier- Minnesota/Canada. Over seventy Troop 945 scouts have attained Eagle rank (Menu-Eagle History).

Merit Badge Weekend is Friday April 21st- Sunday April 23rd, 2017

Next Court of Honor Monday June 5th

Posted on Mar 9 2017 - 11:25am

Leadership has decided to hold a Court of Honor twice per year (instead of 3x per year).  Scouts can schedule a Board of Review for rank advancement with Mr. Molnar (he is the new Rank Advancement Coordinator) at ANY TIME, it is not necessary to wait for the weeks leading up to a COH.  Please remember that consistent participation in the troop and at least 50% meeting attendance is required for advancement.  The next scheduled Court of Honor is  Monday June 5th from 7-8 pm at the IWL.

Please Congratulate Our Newest Eagle Scout, Kyle Fruth
